You know what’s funny to us? When we see people throwing away perfectly good items, just because they don’t know what to do with them. While we’d never tell you to hold onto your rotting trash or burnt pots & pans, there are plenty of uses for some of the more common pieces of “garbage” around your house. Here’s 5 that we came up with right off the top of our heads:

Never throw out any leftover materials from after a construction project. No matter how small the item, it likely can be used again! Annie Haul has always made it a mission to donate these materials. Whether it’s to Portland’s Rebuilding Center or to people in need, we’ll get your leftover construction pieces in the right hands.

Books. It always amazes us when we see books in decent condition being tossed out. The written word, thrown out like yesterday’s news! Words never die, and neither should your books. We donate books to various outlets around Portland that promote literacy for families and individuals.

Housewares in good condition can be given to families starting over. We’ve donated to domestic abuse survivors in Portland in the past. Really anything around the house in good condition can be used again. We’d gladly donate your linens, clothing and even furniture.

Paint. Here’s one that no one ever knows what to do with (that and oil). Please, please, please, don’t dump it down your sink or onto your lawn! Annie Haul will gladly take your paint to be recycled. So hold onto those half full cans or that color you didn’t like until you see us.

Let’s state the obvious, one person’s trash is another person’s treasure. Don’t throw out anything that is in good working order or could be reusable. Annie Haul can find new homes in Portland for almost any item you have lying around.
